Scholarships

 

 The American Legion Auxiliary offers one of the most extensive scholarship programs today. Scholarships enable our youth to pursue higher education, to become the well informed and well educated citizens of tomorrow. Scholarships are offered at the National and Department levels.  

National President's Scholarship These scholarships are awarded to children of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for The American Legion. One (1) $2500 scholarship and one (1) $2000 will be awarded in each division. The applicant must complete fifty (50) hours of community service during her/his high school years to be eligible for one of these scholarships.
 

Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members One Junior member in each division will receive a scholarship valued at $1,000 per year for four years ($4,000). The junior must have held membership in the Auxiliary for the immediate past three (3) years, and maintain membership throughout the four-year period.

Girl Scout Achievement Award Applicant must have received the Girl Scout Gold Award. Must be an active member of her religious institution, and have received the appropriate religious emblem, Cadet or Senior Scout. Must have demonstrated practical citizenship in her religious institution, school, Girl Scouting AND community.

The Non-Traditional Student Scholarship Scholarship is available for a student returning to the classroom after some period of time in which her/his formal schooling was interrupted , or a student has had at least one (1) year of college and is in need of financial assistance to pursue an undergraduate degree. Applicant must be a member of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion for at least two preceding years and for the calendar year in which application is made. One $1,000 scholarship in each division.
