 HISTORY OF AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

The American Legion Auxiliary was established in 1920. Today, the Auxiliary is the most influential patriotic women's organization in the world, but their success has not changed their purpose. They join with The American Legion to serve God and this Country as a family and it's a bond will never be broken.

Membership in the Auxiliary is now open to Legionnaires' wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, granddaughters and grandmothers. With close a million members nation wide, the Auxiliary gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and manages hundreds of volunteer programs. It raises money to support its own programs plus charities familiar to most of us. All of this is accomplished though the unselfishness of volunteers.
